Problem

Many of the newer Palm™ handheld devices available in the retail market have Palm OS® software Version 5.x. When loaded with the various versions of Palm handheld application tools software from Johnson Controls, these Palm handhelds may not communicate correctly with the controllers.

Cause

A software problem embedded in the Palm OS Version 5.x communication driver used by the Palm handheld application software causes problems when communicating with some controllers.

Solution

We recommend that you order Palm handhelds for your customers from Johnson -ITAS via your local distributor.

Johnson is working on solutions to provide software that is compatible with the new Palm operating system and qualified Palm handheld devices. We will make an announcement when further information is available.
